Student Send-Off Reception Featuring Professor Peter Andreas
La Jolla Country Club
August 4, 3-5p.m.

Professor Peter Andreas, Brown Professor of Political Science and International Studies, Peter Andreasdrops in on this year’s First-Year Student Send-Off Reception on August 4th from 3-5pm at the La Jolla Country Club*.  Peter will share his wisdom on life at Brown and speak about his book “Smuggler Nation: How Illicit Trade made America.” To purchase a copy of the good professor’s book, click here. On Friday August 16th, meet  rising star Zoe Chao ’08, who plays a lead character in the Zoe Chaonew comedic play Sideways at La Jolla Playhouse. Join us for a private reception from 6-8pm in the Playhouse’s rehearsal room.

“A Lively Defense of Slang” by Public Radio Host Grant Barrett

Join Ivy alumni and friends for a fun, interactive evening with radio host, public speaker, lexicographer and journalist Grant Barrett (Columbia ’02). Barrett is co-host and co-producer of A Way with Words, a nationally syndicated radio show headquartered and produced in San Diego. He’s also the author of two books, and, as a lexicographer specializing in slang and new words, a contributor to dozens of dictionaries.

Ivy Plus community members will enjoy light gourmet supper fare from uberfood, a new San Diego-based food delivery service founded by Gen Furukawa ’04 that offers freshly-prepared organic and locally sourced meals for the home and office.
