Brown Club of San Diego’s Community Service Event

It was the ides of November when an intrepid crew of Brown alums and pre-alums (children) joined forces at Sherman Elementary School to mulch, plant and paint. Over the course of the morning, these heroes transferred and truckload of soil into several planting beds and covered the entire garden area with several truckloads of mulch. Karen Wei ’04 worked with school children to plant the beds with organic seeds. Lisa Rothstein ’82 painted a mural on the garden shed.

The timing could not have been more perfect; Right after the community service event, the winter rains started and the garden was saved from being engulfed by a jungle of weeds.

A big thanks to our tireless volunteers!
